  i have no idea why this thought came to me but i made all my coworkers describe themselves by comparing themselves to a genre of music.

  so what kind of music would you be?

  Pedophiles turn into murders?

  .

  this morning i was watching nbc and they where talking about how child murders evolve.the expert said that they usually start out with porno.then the fantasy escalates to the need to acutally control and dominate a child.but wait the thrill dosent stop there.after awhile the "monster" needs the ultimate control...murder!!.

  so what do you think...should we try to rehabilitate these monsters.

  I tend to side with the Police I know, who I believe have more experience of these creeps than you or I. Maybe I'm wrong, you could be an expert. In many instances, due to the material witnessed, their natural response would be to take the life of these people (on an emotional level).

  I am displaying my *knee-jerk* emotional response here. If a younger member of my family were to be molested by an adult, I would not be responsible for my actions against that person.

  All the understanding and routing out the cause of the problem, does not balance the scales of justice within my mind. Sorry.

  But to be fair, if you post anything here to do with the subject, or direct me to a source of information, I'll take a look.

  Vigilanty squads - I see your point here. As the mindless rabble I have witnessed through the media seem to want an excuse for extreme violence. But there again, I can understand them wanting these beasts driven out of the community. A complicated issue, but one again that makes me very angry if I study individual cases of abuse.

  Some issues I believe are black & white !

  One male paedophile said on a documentary a few weeks ago shown in the UK, that once he got on the paedophile band wagon - it was not possible to get off. So all things considered, they should be contained for life in a secure environment or killed. It is proven and known by many police and workers who deal with these people, that they are offenders for life and will always have this mentality to the grave.

  If you have a certain sexual desire, it is very hard to overcome that desire. Infact, I would say impossible to completely dispel it from ones system. So if there is the merest possibility that a child molester will be attracted to another child again, would you want him/her in your community?

  There is no room for rehabilitation.

  Sadly. I know of an elderly member of a congregation who is based in the UK, who confessed to a sister that when he was a younger man (in has 20s) that he took part in the abuse of a minor. I will not have anything to do with this man now. I used to think he was a witty and charming man, until I heard that horrible confession (told in confidence). How can I trust him again? Even though he has said that he has not commited another act since (he is now 60+) I cannot forgive him for ever being involved with a minor in this way.

  It is one crime that it is hard to ever reconcile with ones emotions.

  TRAMPS ON THE BUS - SMELLY, ALCOHOL ABUSING, SWEARING OLD GITS !

  TRAMPY WOMEN FROM THE LOCAL COUNCIL ESTATE WHO HAVE SEVEN CHILDREN ALL CALLED DARREN. DARREN WANTS EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD AND MOMMY CUFFS HIM AROUND THE EAR AND CALLS HIM A LITTLE PHUCKER !

  THE BUS SERVICE IN GENERAL - TATTY OLD SEATS - SOME SLIGHTLY DAMP?? - CHILDRENS SCRAWL ON EVERY AVAILABLE SURFACE - INEFFICIENT COOLING - OVER CROWDED !

  ABUSIVE BEGGERS WHO STAND IN YOUR WAY AND OPEN THEIR HAND WANTING YOUR MONEY - VIOLENT BEGGERS WHO THEN CALL YOU A BASTARD WHEN YOU DON'T GIVE THEM ANYTHING !

  Its enough to bring out an attack of THE SHIPMANS in me !

  215 killed by Shipman , but why?

  a goverment enquiry has just eastablished that harold shipman killed at least 215 people.. but they have yet to discover why.in fact why do people do such things?what motivates , what to everyone seams like a sane normal person, to do such things?again why do people abuse children, or why do people lead a religion that is so obivously flawed yet requires people to give their lives under certain conditions (blood etc)?.

  the leads me to wonder just how well developed the human brain is.we marvel at its ability to many things, but is it all we think it is?often conflict exists in us when we desire to do things yet realise this could be harmful to others.for some reason we consider it right not to harm others and wrong to do so.animals for example seam to lack such reasoning power.but we have not fully rid ourselves of such basic urges.some humans have a harder time than others in doing what is right.. prehaps as time goes on such people will become rarer , as often they are not atractive to others as mates, and such quirks will dissapear almost completely from humans.. trouble is this reasoning is dangerously close to what the nazis were hoping to achieve.. so is there another way to rid society of such people , or indeed should we?.

  A hard question to answer, although my own personal feeling is that he felt so detached emotionally from his patients and probably the world in general, that he was able to pass that inate barrier that prevents us from acting upon our base instincts and developed a liking for power over life and death.

  There must have been a sense of satisfaction for him to weild the power of GOD over his victims. Maybe he viewed his victims as not being worthy of life, maybe he had a higher vision of society and reasoned that humanity was a scourge upon the earth - infected - weak - selfish - unclean - UNWORTHY !!

  I do not have the answer, but know how we all have instincts that conjure visions in the mind, horrible visions, but most of us don't act upon them.

  Why won't elders factor depression in hearings?

  i have had two sons with depression and suicidal thought be disfellowshipped with the elders saying that there was nothing they could do; that depression was not an excuse for wrongdoing.

  i can't help but feel that this misses the point, that the depression could be contributing to the behavior and that the df'ing could push them over the edge.

  anyone else interested in pushing the society on this matter?

  I have a friend who is a practising JW (although its hard to tell most of the time!) who has suffered with mental health related problems for most of his adult life. He tends to get really down and then have anxiety related issues when in public places (panic attacks).

  Fortunately for him, when moving congregation the body of elders there offered him great support and even allowed him to continue smoking dope (yes, believe it or not) while he was pulling himself out of a deep depression. He has now kicked his drug habbit and continues to work alongside the JWs, although he is very much a fringe member (he won't do talks / say public prayers etc / plus his ministry is minimal).

  So I think it depends where you go and who you speak to. But as the dude said earlier in this thread - if you get a window cleaner to assist you with your problems, then the most he'll be able to do is advise you what leather to clean your glass with.

  Will the public lump the JW's with child killers?

  i was watching the news coverage about the little girl samatha that was found murdered.

  5 precious years old.

  there were many interviewed and one man's reply really got to me, he was almost flustered in how to express his anguish over this.

  CHILD KILLERS

  Surely sensationalist rhetoric ? The kind of headline that the tabloids thrive on .....

  I'm not sure these words would stand well in a court of law, would you not change the accusation to man-slaughter in certain cases, on the grounds of diminished responsibility ?
